Frequently Asked Questions

What file formats do you accept for CNC plasma cutting?

We accept DXF and DWG files (preferred for cutting), as well as PDF drawings, STEP / IGES files, hand sketches and dimensioned photos. DXF is ideal — it goes straight to our nesting software with no redrawing required. If you only have a sketch or a sample part, send it through and we'll redraw it for you (a small drafting fee may apply for complex geometry).

What thicknesses can you cut?

Our CNC plasma table cuts mild steel, Galvanised steel and Corten up to 6mm plate, stainless steel up to 5mm and aluminium up to 4mm. Below 1.2mm we usually recommend our guillotine and folder for a cleaner edge. If you're not sure what's right for your job, send us your drawing and we'll advise on the best material and thickness.

How long does a CNC plasma job take?

Most plasma cutting jobs are turned around in 3–7 business days from approved drawings. Simple one-off cuts can often be ready in 1–2 days. Larger production runs, jobs that need folding, welding or powder coating, and busy periods may extend lead times — we'll always confirm a realistic ETA when we send your quote.

What happens after I submit my drawings?

1) We confirm receipt during business hours. 2) Our team reviews your files for material, thickness, quantity and any tooling considerations. 3) You receive a written quote with price and lead time — turnaround depends on the job, and where supplier pricing is needed we'll source that first. 4) Once approved (with a deposit if required), we nest and cut your parts. 5) You're notified when parts are ready for pickup at our Fyshwick yard or local Canberra delivery — interstate shipping available on request.

Is there a minimum order for CNC plasma work?

No minimum. We cut single one-off parts, prototypes, short runs and full production batches. For trade clients we offer repeat-batch pricing and can keep your DXF library on file for fast re-orders.

Can you finish the parts after cutting?

Yes. We can deburr, fold, weld, prime or arrange powder coating to your specified Dulux or custom colour — all under one roof. Just let us know the finish you need when requesting your quote.

What metals do you work with?

We work with mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, Galvanised steel, Colorbond®, Zincalume®, and Corten weathering steel. We stock a wide range of gauges and can source specific materials to your spec.

Can you work from drawings or sketches?

Yes. We accept DXF files, PDF drawings, CAD files, or even hand sketches. For complex components, we can produce shop drawings for your approval before fabricating.

Do you have a minimum order quantity?

No minimum. We regularly fabricate single one-off items as well as large commercial production runs. Each job is quoted individually.

What's your typical turnaround time?

Most standard fabrication jobs are 5–10 business days. Simple items can often be faster. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when quoting.

Do you supply to trade only?

No. We supply to builders, architects, trades, businesses, and private customers.
