Do you supply VELUX skylights in Canberra?
Yes — we supply genuine VELUX fixed, manual-opening, electric and solar skylights, sun tunnels, roof windows, blinds, flashings and accessories from our Fyshwick workshop.
What's the difference between fixed, manual, electric and solar skylights?
Fixed skylights are sealed for daylight only. Manual skylights open via a winder handle or extension rod. Electric models open with a wireless wall keypad and built-in rain sensor. Solar models work the same as electric but run from a concealed solar-charged battery — no electrician or wiring required.
Which flashing kit do I need?
We supply two options: the genuine VELUX EDW kit for tile and corrugated iron roofs, or an Arkus custom flashing for every other profile (Klip-Lok, Trimdek, custom-rib metal, flat roofs and low-pitch sun tunnels). Arkus custom flashings come either flat-pack — folded panels cut and formed on site — or pre-assembled base flashings ready to drop on the roof.
What roof pitch do VELUX skylights suit?
Pitched roof skylights and roof windows fit pitches between 15° and 90°. Flat roof skylights (FCM/VCM/VCS) and the TCR low-pitch sun tunnel work on pitches from 0° to 60°.
Are VELUX skylights suitable for Canberra hail and bushfire zones?
Yes — VELUX offers laminated and toughened glazing options rated for hail. BAL-rated upgrades are available for bushfire-prone areas; ask us about the right glazing and flashing combination for your site.
Do solar and electric VELUX skylights need an electrician?
Solar models (VCS / VSS) don't require any wiring — the battery is solar-charged. Electric models (VSE) plug into a standard power point with a 2m mains lead.
Do VELUX skylights leak?
Genuine VELUX skylights paired with the correct flashing kit and installed to the manufacturer's instructions are watertight. Most leaks come from incorrect flashing selection or DIY install — always use the matching VELUX flashing for your roof profile.
What blinds are available for VELUX skylights?
Honeycomb (energy), blockout, light-filtering, Venetian and external roller (heat-blocking) blinds — manual, electric or solar-powered. We supply blinds to suit every VELUX model.
How long do VELUX skylights last?
VELUX skylights are engineered for a 30+ year service life. Glazing carries a 10-year warranty and the NEAT™ self-cleaning coating is permanent.
Do you install VELUX skylights?
No — we are a supply business only. Your roofer or builder handles install. We can recommend trades who regularly fit VELUX in Canberra.
